Laptop specs as follows:Win 10 64 bit core i7 4720HQ CPU 2. Hope someone can help - I plan to buy the camera with a Samsung T5 1TB drive with Smallrig frame and SSD mount, Blackmagic Pocket Camera Battery Grip and a Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 II LUMIX G X Vario ASPH Power OIS Lens - hopfully the lens will make up a bit for the lack of in camera image stablisation but Im not expecting much in this respect. Sorry lots of questions here but be gentle with you resposes as Im a real newbe. I dont mind getting the camera if its going to be ok with this laptop but dont really want to spend another £2000+ on a PC if the novely is going to ware off after his exams (if you know what teens are like!)Īt the end of the day if this setup is going to be clunky and unusable even for HD content, Id rather not buy the Blackmagic camera and try another camera - any suggestions if thats the case? I can run any other tests and post the results if you need them. Is there a setting on the camera so the recorded footage is ok without having to grade it? I know grading is a very important skill for him to learn but maybe a bit much to go too deep into it just now. We use the macOS-only Blackmagic Disk Speed Test app from. This is for my son to make a simple cinematic style short film for his A levels so Im not going to be doing anything apart from a little grading (maybe if he has to) but no mega FX etc.Īnd also (a little off topic sorry) I would rather he doesnt have to do any grading and can just shoot footage and concentrate on editing the content even if it only 1080 HD. The first part of it we report is culled from the Windows 10 boot trace, which simulates a full operating-system startup procedure. I downloaded a couple of clips from the Blackmagic site and they seemed to load and move on the timeline and play ok. Will I be able to dare to venture into 4K? if so what would be the best record settings on the camera for both 1080 HD and (if it would work 4k) taking into account the results here? Will this enable me to at least record in HD 1080 on the camera and edit the content reasonably in Resolve (I guess Ill be using the paid for version that comes with the camera). The first time I ran it I selected 4K 8:1 and the second time I selected 5:1 resuilts are below. Anyway here are some screenshots of the results. When I installed Davinci it said I would have to use Open CL as my graphics drivers were not compatable -I updated the drivers but still said I had to use CL. I have installed the free version of Davinci Resolve and run the test. Im trying to work out if I can edit Blackmagic files before I go and buy the camera.
